What we found: nurses go home at the weekend
Medicare publishes payroll-based staffing for every certified nursing home, separately for weekdays and weekends. Comparing the two across 14,254 facilities:
- 56.1% cut registered-nurse coverage by more than 30% at weekends.
- The median facility cuts it by 33.1%.
- In Louisiana, the median home provides 0.15 hours of registered-nurse time per resident per day at weekends.

- Medicare's five-star rating, and what it is actually measuring.
- Nurse hours per resident per day, weekday against weekend, next to the state average.
